‘An Alarming Situation’: Maltese Weather Page Warns Against ‘Abnormal’ December Temperatures

Maltese weather page Aġġornament Tat-Temp has warned against the “abnormal” temperatures that Malta has seen throughout December.
Referring to it as “an alarming situation”, the page warned that the high temperatures experienced are far from normal for this time of year. Over the last month, the islands have been seeing sunny days with temperatures as high as 21 degrees.
“Are we in heaven on earth or are we in an alarming situation and we’re not even realising?” it questioned.
“The consequences from the lack of rain are vast – from allergies and high humidity, to the trees having not yet gone into hibernation. These temperatures are not normal for this time of year,” it stressed.
“We could very easily say it’s climate change that’s causing this however this could be happening for a number of other reasons.”
It explained a number of factors that are leading to this weather, such as a lack of storms in the southwestern side of Malta.
January is also forecast to be lacking any storms, with sunny days and high temperatures forecast already for the usually coldest month of the year.
The highest median temperature currently being forecast is 19 degrees, while the lowest is 12 degrees. The sea’s temperature is also still at 19 degrees.
