Just in case it hasn’t already been hot enough, August in Malta is predicted to be hotter than average for 2022, Malta Weather has stated.

With the month now having kicked off, humidity levels are set to make Malta feel hotter than 40 degrees, although no heatwaves are forecasted yet.

The rest of the week is set to see temperatures which consistently exceed the 30-degree mark, and humidity is ready to play its part.

The UV index is also set to fluctuate between 9 and 10, with certain days even seeing an index of 11 – which can all be very dangerous numbers for long periods in the sun.

“The latest weather models are predicting that August 2022 will be hotter than average, although heatwaves are now looking unlikely,” Malta Weather said in a post.

“However, this heat will be combined with very high humidity making the temperature feel hotter than 40 degrees.”

“Isolated rain showers are also possible but no severe storms are being anticipated at this stage!” it said, with 1st August already seeing some rain around a number of places on the island.

This comes right after Lovin Malta spoke with Alan Deidun about the rising sea temperatures, as the central Mediterranean continues to experience the first-ever recorded marine heatwave.

During the month of July, the sea surface level had already reached the whopping temperature of 30 degrees, which is normally a temperature reached in August.

If you’re struggling to take care of yourself in the sweltering heat, have a look at this guide to ensure good health throughout the month of August.
