Autumn’s First Week Is Here… But Will It Bring Sweater Weather To Malta?

Article Featured Image

It feels like it’s been a very long time coming, but summer 2019 has finally come to an end. And while not much really changes with a season change in September on a hot Mediterranean island like Malta, we could be in for some fresher spells if yesterday’s second half was anything to go by.

Funnily enough, the first day of the week – and autumn – is actually the only day which will see highs exceeding 30°C. Other than today, though, the islands should be in for a slight temperature drop that will see most days never really hit the 30s.

Pair the slightly fresher temperatures with constant cloud cover and incoming strong northwesterly winds that could go up to Force 5 (and even 6 by tomorrow), and the first week in autumn is already looking a bit more like… well, autumn.

Evenings will see the temperature drop to lows of 22°C, but while that’s definitely better than most of last summer’s days, maybe you should wait a little bit more before you take that sweater you’ve been eyeing all summer out of the closet. Don’t worry though; evening BBQs or late picnics could soon need a zip-up hoodie. Welcome to autumn everyone!
