November is meant to be one of Malta’s wettest month of the year but after a brutally dry period Malta is facing the consequences.

Local weather page It-Temp Madwarna shared a satellite image of Malta revealing a noticeable lack of greenery on our islands’ landscape.

“Bone dry during the middle of November,” the page wrote on Facebook.

The concerning picture shows the direct consequence of the extended period of rain shortage. The photo shows the severity of the situation as vast areas appear barren.

Typically in November, Malta enjoys a moderate amount of rainfall however recent patterns show a significant decrease leading to higher temperatures while impacting local agriculture.

During last year’s autumn Malta saw 229.6 mm of rainfall measured between September and November. This year, only 23.2mm of rain has been recorded from September until 15th November showing a significant difference.

Do you think we will be getting any rain soon?
