Gale-Force Winds And A Long Grey Weekend: Malta’s In For Some Gloomy Weather

Article Featured Image

After a week of rain, wind and plummeting temperatures, it doesn’t seem like the weather will be giving Malta the much needed break we all need this weekend. In spite of the fact that it’s officially the long weekend, strong winds and rain are definitely still hovering over the island.

According to the MIA website, today’s wind will blow from the west and southwest, with strong forces varying between 5 and 7.

These strong winds won’t be gone by tomorrow, though. In fact, they’ll most probably escalate into gales by then, with the current forecast showing Force 8.

In fact, all Catamaran trips between Malta and Sicily that were previously scheduled for tomorrow have all been cancelled, Virtu Ferries announced yesterday. A few more drops of rain will also visit the island on these two days, because clearly we haven’t had enough.

But don’t worry; if you have any plans, you can just reschedule them for Sunday…

…as the last day of the weekend will be a whole lot calmer.

The rain should come to a halt by then, allowing the temperatures to move closer to the 20°C mark. Plus, the wind might even be as low as Force 3, so Mother Nature will really be coming through at the end!
