Here They Come: Rain And Possible Thunderstorm To Hit Malta This Week

Article Featured Image

Malta saw its first rainfall of the season after months of extreme heat, and most of us were more than happy to see grey clouds hanging over the islands – and it seems like that wasn’t all, as September has more rainy days in store and early signs of autumn are already showing.

With rainfall spotted in most areas of Malta, we were reminded that once it rains in Malta, it rains. Streets flooded and roads turned into rivers as the strong bouts of rain crossed the islands.

Good news for those who loved the wet weather: more rain will be coming to Malta and Gozo early this week, the page Malta Weather shared in a Facebook post announcing that instability is increasing across the central Mediterranean.

Reporting from Mellieħa Bay this morning, the page said we’re starting off the week expecting possible rain showers which may be thunderous, with light to moderate winds and temperatures remaining as warm as 34°C.

Especially today, tomorrow and possibly Wednesday the temperatures should cool down with colder air penetrating the central Mediterranean.

According to Aġġornament tat-temp, there are two possibilities of rain today. At 11am there is a 60% chance of rain, with it slowly decreasing to 30% at 4pm and back up to 50% later at 8pm.

Around 11pm there will be a storm at sea in the north-east of Gozo, which will not reach the islands.

Tomorrow, 7th September, it will possibly be raining throughout the night with an average of 50% chance of rain. All throughout the day there will be a 30% to 55% chance, with the most chance of rain in the morning from 8am to 10am.

On Wednesday there will be some rain throughout the night, and a storm in the Mediterranean will intensify around 5am, with the chance of rain increasing to 60%.

The chance of rain will reduce to 30% between 10am and 4pm, but goes up late in the afternoon to 60%. It will then slowly creep back to 30% throughout the night.
