Rain and possible thunderstorm are set to hit Malta this evening as a storm silently approaches from Tunisia.

“In the photo taken by the weather satellite a few minutes ago, we notice a vortex attached to a storm system that is currently orbiting the northeast coast of Tunisia, as seen in the orange circle,” It-Temp Madwarna wrote in a social media update.

The storm system is said to be accompanied by rain showers and thunderstorms due to a cold snap.

“Today, Saturday 28th May, it is expected to continue moving towards the south-east (in the direction marked by the yellow arrows) and is therefore expected to pass over the Maltese islands in the hours of the evening,” it said.

The storm is set to hit Malta between the hours of 6:00pm and midnight.

The weather page felt it would be useful to issue an update to prepare those that have various events, such as holidays, weddings and parties planned for this evening.

“This is not a place for alarm, but to prepare better,” it said.

Possibilities tonight include rain and thunder, strong gusts, and a very cold temperature.
