September in Malta is usually a month of unmet expectations and sweaty disappointments, but it seems like the weather is doing everything it can to offer something for everyone for the last week of the month. And while temperatures won’t really drop anywhere near December levels, this week’s forecast proves that winter is coming.

Many woke up to showers on Monday morning, and today’s partly cloudy weather will persist to tomorrow, when isolated showers are expected to hit the islands throughout the day. Temperatures tomorrow will still feel like a balmy 30°C, but as the wind makes its way to Malta around the midweek, it’s going to get a bit fresher.

Wednesday sees the winds pick up to Force 5 and the temperatures dropping to highs of 26°C, and the evenings will be dropping even further, just about making the 20s. Thursday sees more of the same, with the northeasterly winds going all the way up to Force 6 and the temperature dropping to 19°C for the first time in a long while.

You might’ve already been feeling the fresh evening breeze hit your face as you were reading that, but when the weekend shows up, the Maltese islands will be facing more of what we’ve been getting in recent weeks.

Friday kicks off with sunny weather, seeing the temperature go back up to 30°C. Saturday, while cloudy, will still have the same warm temperatures, and both the high and low temperatures will be budging up by one degree on Sunday. However, with the northwesterly wind persistently blowing at Force 4 all weekend, we might be in for a couple of fresh evenings to end the week – and the month – in autumnal style.
