Malta might be in for yet another post-summer storm in the coming hours, and it looks like it could all start very imminently.
Trustworthy forecasting page Malta Weather has for the last couple of days been among one of the many local weather pages warning its readers that the forecast for this week is not looking too hot (literally), but it seems like it’s all coming to a climax within the next few hours.
“Heavy rain watch!” the page wrote on Facebook this morning. “Rain showers that may be heavy, thundery and with hail are possible over the next 36 hours, particularly in the early hours of tomorrow Wednesday when peak activity is expected.”
The post goes on to warn of “other potential threats”, including “severe wind gusts and large hail”, citing a 70% confidence in the forecast.
Today’s post follows similar warnings, including one yesterday where Malta Weather said “large hail up to 3 centimetres in diameter” could actually be hitting areas around the islands, particularly on Wednesday.
That post went even harder on the strong wind forecast, citing “microbursts or severe wind gusts up to Force 9 or 10“.
Clearly, it’s best to avoid outdoor activities for the next two days. Stay safe people!
