It will be an apt ending in terms of weather for what has been a rather gloomy year with clouds and isolated showers setting the scene for the beginning of 2021.

According to the Malta International Airport forecast, the next week will see some sun before heading into a wet spell with isolated showers expected on New Year’s Day.

Despite an uncharacteristically warm Christmas Day, which saw many people taking an early morning dip, Malta will finally be heading into a proper winter season with temperatures dropping down to as low as 10°C.

Today and tomorrow will be particularly breezy with Southwest winds expected to go all the way up to Force 6.

Thankfully, Wednesday will bring some warmth back into our lives with temperatures reaching a high of 18°C. We can also expect some sunshine – perfect for a walk in the countryside.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will fare slightly different with clouds and isolated showers expecting to set the tone for the beginning of 2021.

The beginning of the year will be particularly cold and wet, but let’s not take it as a sign for things to come in 2021. After all, Malta has begun distributing COVID-19 vaccines to healthcare workers and before you know it things will go back to normal.
