Destructive gusts and torrential rains have dominated the last couple of weeks in Malta, but man do the islands look and feel good when the sun comes out in between. If this weekend’s weather forecast is anything to go by, though, we could soon be in for the return of some very shitty weather.

Today has kicked the weekend off with pleasant enough weather, as temperatures finally budge up beyond 20°C and the sun returns to bless our tiny island. But as the weekend progresses, things are about to kick into a wintery overdrive.

Saturday, while still mainly sunny, is set to get rather windy very quickly, with southerly winds starting off at Force 4 but gradually going up to Force 6.

By Sunday, the weekend should be ending on a stormy note, with forecasts showing thundery showers and strong Punent winds of Force 7.

Echoing this, temperatures will be dropping, with the highest only making it to 16°C… nearly as fresh as Saturday night. The weekend will end on an even cooler note, with Sunday’s lows dropping to 14°C.
