‘The Calm Before The Storm’? Local Forecasters Brace For Sudden Change In Weather As Rain Set To Hit Malta ‘Very Soon’
This last week in Malta hasn’t really felt any different from your typical summer day, with high temperatures and super sunny spells dominating practically every forecast for what feels like months. But it looks like it’s all about to change very soon.
“The calm before the storm!” local forecasting page Malta Weather announced earlier today. “It’s a beautiful sunny day across Malta and Gozo today with temperatures feeling as hot as 30°C, but all this is going to change early tomorrow Thursday.”
The online forecasting page went on to make predictions of cooler temperatures, rain showers that may be thundery, and maybe even hail at times. And it’s all set for tomorrow!
The “change in weather” is expected to be sudden, with the page going on to quote a 75% confidence in their forecast.
Malta Airport’s weather forecast page seems to echo all this with its own predictions of rain.
According to MIA’s forecast, the current weather could change as early as tonight, with tomorrow showing the arrival of showers over the islands thanks to today’s “trough of low pressure extending from North Italy to Tunisia moving slowly eastwards”.
By tomorrow, in fact, the warmest temperature is not expected to go beyond 26°C, with the relatively low Force 2 winds potentially going all the way up to Force 5 and 6 northwesterly winds. And yes, that’s the notorious Majjistral we’re talking about.
It does seem like Friday and the rest of the weekend have better weather in store for Malta, but don’t keep your hopes up for too long. This is October after all!
