The Warmest December Day In Five Years And Strong Winds: Malta’s Weather Is Going To Be All Over The Place This Week

Malta is apparently experiencing one of the warmest Decembers in recent history, and if you’ve stepped outside today, you might just be tricked into thinking that it’s actually still summer.

According to several weather pages, Malta will be experiencing an uncharacteristically dry and hot December, with today hitting highs of 24°C.

As local forecasting page Malta Weather put it last Saturday, this recent spell of warm weather is all down to southerly winds bringing with them a whole lot of “desert heat”.

Despite the fact that the last three months have been wetter than usual, December is expected to be the complete opposite, and what should be one of the wettest months of the year might turn out to be one of its driest.

“The consistent presence of high pressure from over North Africa will prevent low-pressure systems from reaching us on most days. The few low-pressure systems that do reach us are not expected to be intense,” Maltese Island Weather reports.

The result of which will see less rainfall in the month of December than what we’ve gotten used to over the past few months.

However, Mother Nature is an unpredictable force, and despite the fact that we’ve just experienced one of the hottest December days ever, tomorrow is expected to bring with it some moderate to strong Force 5 – 6 winds and isolated showers as a trough of low pressure passes over Malta.

Just like Malta, the weather just can’t get its shit together this month and who knows? You might just find yourself having to pull out those shorts and tank tops for Christmas Day.
