A severe weather warning has been issued for tonight and tomorrow, with everything from thunderstorms to tornadoes possibly heading Malta’s way.
“Severe weather watch!” Facebook forecasting page Malta Weather said. “Severe thunderstorms are possible today and tomorrow in Malta and Gozo as an upper-level trough intensifies over the central Mediterranean! Together with heavy rain, a few tornadoes are not ruled out.”
The Weather Page Malta also issued a similar warning: “Ready or not? Showers possibly heavy, thundery and severe may hit Malta and Gozo in the coming hours on the first day of spring.”
The severe weather would come following very strong winds hitting the Maltese Islands over the last few days, with the road near G?adira Bay being inundated with sand blown over from the nearby beach.
