A sudden rainstorm that hit Malta this afternoon caused chaos in some localities, especially along the Buġibba waterfront.

A video uploaded by Maltese Roads Traffic Updates shows a deluge of water rising up to the tires of a number of cars, who are being inundated by the water. In a second video, strong gales and rushing winds can be seen beside the water.

An image of a road in San Ġwann also showed just how flooded some streets in the central locality became.

Today is the first day of what’s expected to a very wet, windy and thundery week that’s set to hit the islands in proper October style. Stay safe everyone!
