Heavy rainfall hit Malta this afternoon as a storm veered south from Sicily.

Footage sent to Lovin Malta shows that Triq ix-Xatt, one of the main roads in Pieta’, was flooded as a result of the downpour, with water seeping onto the pavement.

Floods were also spotted in Msida, while rain footage was sent from the likes of Naxxar, St Paul’s Bay and Gozo as the island experienced its first storm after a long dry spell.

Rain and thunder had been forecast for today and tomorrow, although sunnier days are expected by midweek, with the maximum temperature expected to be 26 degrees and the minimum at 20 degrees.

The sea temperature will also decrease by another degree, however, it is still currently two degrees more than the usual temperature in mid-October.
