One of the most impressive thunderstorms in quite some time hit the Maltese Islands last night, and the stats behind it are just as impressive as the lightning that lit up our skies.

According to popular forecasting page It-Temp Madwarna, who took to social media overnight to post updates from the storm, yesterday saw over 1,000 lightning bolts hit Malta and Gozo. And if you’re wondering how much energy that is, it’s a lot.

“Enough energy to light up 850,000 homes for 1,000 days,” the post read, sharing one of the many incredible shots from last night.
