Will It Really? Malta’s Forecasts Say Possible Thunderstorm Could Hit Today As Rain And Strong Winds Predicted For Thursday

Summer 2025 might technically only be just over a month away, but the current weather forecasts show that rain and potentially even thunder could be days, or even hours away.
As temperatures continue to persist in the mid-20s, even going higher to hit 26°C by Wednesday, moderately strong winds and isolated showers are set to make their way to Malta this week. And as far as the Met Office is concerned, a possible thunderstorm could even hit the islands today.
“It might be a bit too early,” prominent forecasting page Aġġornament tat-Temp meanwhile wrote late last night. “But what we’re observing in the southwest of Malta factually shows just how much bad weather there still is in this zone that we usually observe so much during the winter months. There is an area of low pressure over Tunisia which is slowly developing and will intensify a lot on Wednesday with the possibility of a very low pressure area to be created, and a part of this will move to the centre of the Mediterranean on Thursday.”

As it stands, it looks like beyond today, Thursday is indeed a day of “high instability”, with rain and strong winds potentially hitting the islands hard. And as forecasters continue to closely look at the situation in Tunisia, one will need to wait and see.
