Warnings have been issued on potentially severe gale force winds and a thunderstorm hitting the island Saturday evening and Sunday morning, with advice even being issued on where to park your car over the weekend as well as for anyone planning on using the Gozo Ferry.
“Severe gale watch! Force nine winds from a northeasterly direction are expected this coming Sunday with potentially damaging gusts up to 100km/h! Average wave heights will be of around six metres, possibly peaking at 13 metres! The strongest winds are expected between 4am and 10am on Sunday! Don’t park your vehicle under large trees and don’t go near the sea in exposed areas! The Gozo Ferry service is also expected to be affected!” Malta Weather posted ahead of the weather.
They reported a 70% confidence in the accuracy of their weather forecast.
The Weather Page Malta also warned “the worst is expected from tonight”
While the weather is calm right now and looks quite sunny, if a bit cloudy, the page said that everything could change this evening.
“It’s a mostly cloudy Saturday in Malta with possible rain or hail showers later and a rather strong to strong Northerly wind becoming Northeast (Force 5-6). High of 13°C!” they posted.
