Westin Car Park Becomes ‘Paceville Entertainment Zone’ With Major Development On The Cards

The Westin Hotel car park could be set for some major development after being rezoned as a Paceville entertainment hub.

This comes after the Planning Authority approved an application extending the “entertainment priority area” to the parking area, which hugs the coastline and is nestled within an 18th-century boundary wall.

The PA’s case officer recommended its approval, insisting that it will “achieve a high-quality scheme in architectural and urban design terms”.

The infamous 2006 local plans do earmark the site for a four-storey development. However, the PA had approved using the site as a mixed-use development of offices, hotels, residences and commercial establishments in 2021.

It gives major indications that a major development is set for the site, with Paceville becoming a major target for developers in recent years.

An application for a 10-storey project was submitted in 2018 but is still at the screening stage. It remains to be seen whether the plans will be changed moving forward.

What do you think of the plans?
