‘What Happens In Malta Touches Netherlands’: Dutch MP Concerned By Joseph Muscat’s Involvement In Assassination Investigation
A Council of Europe rapporteur and Dutch MP has questioned Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s personal involvement in the ongoing investigation into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“Given his associations, shouldn’t PM Muscat be keeping his distance from all of this?” Pieter Omtzigt said online today, going on to say that Muscat’s potential influence over the investigation and the criminal justice system was “too great”.
He explained his concern in what’s happening in Malta by saying that all of the European Union countries are connected nowadays.
“What happens in Malta touches the Netherlands, because we are in Schengen together, and they are selling passports. Because we are in a common market, and they have poor supervision,” he said.
Concerned by events in Malta.
Who runs the investigation: PM Muscat?
Who determines whether Theuma’s evidence justifies a pardon: the PM?
Why was Theuma’s evidence worth a pardon one day, only for the PM then to say it was not needed for Fenech’s arrest?

The tweets come after days of serious developments in the investigation in Caruana Galizia’s murder.
Businessman Yorgen Fenech, a main suspect in her murder, was arrested days ago reportedly attempting to flee the country. He was released on police bail late last night.
