New footage shows the perils one Gozitan family faces as construction occurs nearby.

Residents of a house in Xagħra, Gozo, expressed their concern and frustration as they face the possibility of being displaced for an indefinite period following damage that occurred in the roof of the building where they reside.

Footage shared by Newsbook shows the scary situation the family face.

The resident who spoke said that these permits were not present before, and they appeared rather suddenly, while the residence is currently being affected by the vibrations from the machinery.

He expressed his distress over the situation, while asking whether there is any guarantee that his residence won’t collapse further over time. In light of this danger, he doesn’t have an alternative place to stay.

However, one person on site denied the man’s claims, telling Lovin Malta that planning authorities had been on site and approved it as safe to work.

They also said that the man in question had no evidence that the damage on his roof had appeared recently, and that buildings closer to the construction site had not reported any damage.

This development comes just as five people are currently in court facing involuntary homicide charges over the death of 20-year-old Jean Paul Sofia.
