‘Woke And Vague’: Croatian MEP Criticises Glenn Micallef’s Response To Woman Question
Croatian MEP Stephen Nikola Bartolica criticised Malta’s European Commissioner designate Glenn Micallef response to his question of what a woman is.
Bartolica, from the ECR Group, had asked Micallef during his grilling to provide a definition of what a woman is and to clarify whether he thinks “men competing in women’s sport is a European value”.
Micallef, who has been nominated as EU Commissioner for Youth, Culture, Sport and Inter-Generational Fairness, dodged the questions. Instead, he said the EU should allow sporting associations to set their own rules, that sport is for everyone, and that he believes in a union of equality.
While Micallef’s response was widely cheered by MEPs at the grilling, it clearly didn’t satisfy Bartolica.
“The future European Commissioner does not know how to answer the question of what a woman is?!” Bartolica posted on X.
“Parents in Croatia are very concerned about the imposing of gender ideology on children as early as primary school. Children are being confused and abused. Is the fundamental European value the competition of men in women’s sports? What is a woman?”
“Commissioner designate for Intergenerational Justice, Youth, Culture, and Sports, Mr. Glenn Micallef, could not clearly answer my questions. He gave a vague, formulaic, and ‘woke’ response that means nothing.”
“The applause he received shows how disconnected the so-called European elites are from reality and common sense.”
