An elderly woman is at risk of dying after falling down a flight of stairs last night in a residence in Qormi.

Police were called on-site at around 10.30pm, after their assistance was requested in a residence situated along Triq il-Belt Valletta, Qormi. 

Investigations found that the 72-year-old woman fell down some stairs while she was making her way down. A medical team was called on-site, with an ambulance transporting the woman to Mater Dei Hospital.

It was later certified that she is suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud is leading an inquiry.
