Woman At Risk Of Dying After Flames Engulf Qormi Residence

A 64-year-old woman is at risk of dying after flames engulfed a residence in Qormi last night.

Police were informed of the incident at around 9.15pm, with the residence being located along Triq l-Aħwa Zammit in Qormi.

Members from the Civil Protection Department were immediately called on-site to control the flames, as well as a medical team.

A 41-year-old man who was in the house managed to exit by himself, while the woman was saved by members of the CPD.

The woman was immediately taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment, where it was certified that she is suffering from serious injuries. 

The man had no injuries.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke is leading an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
