Woman Dies After Getting Caught Between Two Vehicles In Valletta

A 62-year-old woman died yesterday after getting trapped between two vehicles in Valletta.
Police were informed of a traffic accident on Xatt il-Barriera, Valletta, yesterday at 10pm.
The accident involved a collision between a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 23-year-old man from Paola, and a Ford Fiesta, which at the time was parked at the side of the road.
At the moment of impact, a 62-year-old woman from Ħamrun was caught between the two vehicles, while a 69-year-old man, also from Ħamrun, who was inside the Ford Fiesta, was injured as well. Several other parked cars were also damaged in the incident.
While the 23-year-old driver was unharmed, a medical team provided immediate assistance to the victims. Unfortunately, the woman was certified dead at the scene.
The 69-year-old man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and was certified as suffering from serious injuries.
A relative of the 62-year-old victim said she and her husband were “sipping tea and eating pastizzi on the seafront like they do every evening” before she got caught between a two-car collision.
A magisterial inquiry is ongoing.
