Woman Killed In Valletta Traffic Accident Identified As Mildred Azzopardi

Mildred Azzopardi was identified as the woman who died yesterday night after getting trapped between two vehicles in Xatt il-Barriera, Valletta.
“Dear Mildred, it’s not fair; your life was cut short too soon last night by a reckless irresponsible driver,” her sister, Frida Farrugia, wrote on Facebook.
A relative of the 62-year-old victim said Mildred and her husband were “sipping tea and eating pastizzi on the seafront like they do every evening” before she got caught between a two-car collision.
The accident involved a collision between a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 23-year-old man from Paola, and a Ford Fiesta, which at the time was parked at the side of the road.
At the moment of impact, Mildred was caught between two vehicles and she was certified dead on the scene. Meanwhile, a 69-year-old man from Ħamrun, who was in the Ford Fiesta, was seriously injured.
The 23-year-old driver was unharmed.
This accident marked the third traffic fatality of the day, following an earlier incident in Fgura that claimed the life of a 71-year-old woman and another in Pietà in which a 58-year-old man was killed.
Lovin Malta extends its sincere condolences to Mildred’s family and loved ones.
