Three women found guilty of working as prostitutes in Malta have said that they cannot wait to leave the country following their verdict.

According to a report by The Times of Malta, three Colombian women, Denise Nicolle Tinoco Alzate (22), Maira Michel Tinoco Alzate (26), and Stephania Hincapie Rodriguez (29_, were charged with running a brothel from the flat.

The police were first informed of the case after neighbours tipped off that prostitution might be taking place there.

The women first came to Malta looking for work but ended up turning to prostitution.

Inspectors Kylie Borg and Dorianne Tabone revealed that the women apologised for the crimes and wanted to leave Malta as soon as pssoble.

The three were handed an 18-month sentence, suspended for four years.

Malta’s government was set to regularise prostitution in the country, but it seems the issue has been completely forgotten about by the government and has been swept under the rug.
