The worker who was trapped under the rubble was unfortunately found dead after a roof collapsed in Sliema earlier today.

Earlier this morning, police were informed of an incident where a roof collapsed at a residence in St Ignatius Junction where two workers were doing construction work on the building.

Police together with members from Civil Protection Department and a medical team from Mater Dei arrived on site to assist in the incident.

The two workers’ nationality was identified to be Albanian.

One of the workers managed to walk out on his own and was taken to Mater Dei for further treatment however the nature of his injuries are not yet known.

Unfortunately, the other worker was found dead under the rubble.
