Today marks World Mental Health Day, an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy about social stigma.

On this day, the Richmond Foundation is asking people one very simple question – ‘Kif int?’

It’s a simple question that’s often taken for granted. However, the foundation is encouraging people to ask others how they are and allows people to express what they’re feeling.

The foundation has released a new video to commemorate the day, which features a series of people speaking about their mental health struggles, including public figure Peppi Azzopardi.

This year’s theme also serves as a reminder to always be compassionate with those around you and to be empathetic to the fact that they might be going through a rough patch, even if they don’t show it.

The foundation uploaded a series of important steps to take before asking people how they are, starting off with checking in with yourself, your thoughts and your feelings.

People must also make sure they are educated and informed enough about the resources available, which can point towards professional help when needed.

And lastly, one should always consider whether they have picked the right place and moment before asking someone how they are doing.

The foundation is also reminding people that if they need help, they can call 1770, or visit kifint.com or olli.chat, assuring that they are available 24 hours every day.
