Xemxija Hill Reopens After Car Accident Causes Temporary Closure And Major Traffic Buildup
Xemxija Hill has officially reopened to traffic following a temporary closure earlier today due to a car accident on Selmun Hill.
The collision, which occurred at around 10:30am, led authorities to close the key route, causing significant traffic congestion in the northern areas of Mellieħa, Manikata, Xemxija, and Mġarr.
The accident involved two vehicles—one driven by a 39-year-old woman from Mellieħa, who had a three-year-old passenger, and the other driven by a 26-year-old woman from Xewkija.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and individuals involved were transported to Mater Dei Hospital for medical care.
While the condition of the 26-year-old remains unknown, the 39-year-old and her child sustained minor injuries.
Police closed off Telgħa tas-Selmun immediately following the incident, advising drivers to find alternative routes.
However, the road has now been reopened, and traffic is expected to gradually return to normal.
