Yorgen Fenech Denies Claim He Dined At Valletta Restaurant On First Day Out On Bail
Yorgen Fenech has denied claims that he dined at a Valletta restaurant today, his first day out on bail.
Fenech’s defence lawyer Charles Mercieca told Lovin Malta that Fenech didn’t go to Valletta at all today.
He said he only left the Swieqi residence he is living in to sign the bail book at the St Julian’s police station and then went straight back home.
Matthew Caruana Galizia said that Fenech had lunch at the Da Pippo restaurant, right opposite his father’s office.
“Imagine while someone is supposed to be on trial for murdering your wife you come face to face with him smoking outside your door,” he said.
However, Fenech’s lawyer said police are stationed outside Fenech’s house and are logging the names of everyone entering and exiting the house and their times of entry and exit.
“Referring to what Mr Matthew Caruana Galizia posted to Facebook earlier, it must be said that it’s a lie and a complete invention. The defence is currently considering bringing the lie to the Criminal Courts attention for their direction.”
Da Pippo’s owner Francesco Cutajar also denied the rumour, telling Lovin Malta that he was at the restaurant all day and didn’t see Fenech at all.
