‘You Were There In My Darkest Hours’: Tributes Pour In For Lazy Corner’s Beloved ‘Il-Kajsu’
Maltese social media is flooded with tributes to Clifford Micallef, the man from Sliema’s Lazy Corner remembered for being an exemplary father and friend.
Clifford’s death shocked the Sliema community, not least because it comes just months after the death of his daughter, Lorandesh Micallef Chisari, who died aged 22.
“I still cannot believe it, early in the morning I received a message from a dear friend telling me that you have left this world,” said one heartbroken close friend.
“I’m still shocked and no words can describe the pain that your family, friends and anyone that had the pleasure to meet you, is going through right now. We were meant to catch up next week in Malta for a beer and to finally meet my daughter.”
“You always were the life of the party, a big heart and always willing to help others. I’m going to miss your smile, your energy and your laugh.”
Sphinx Pastizzeria issued a tribute to the man who worked within their family of food companies.
“It is with deepest regret and profound sadness that we announce the passing away of Clifford Micallef, that worked in our sister company Champ Pastizzeria Valletta. Words cannot even describe our sorrow. Sending love, thoughts, and prayers to you and your family during this tough time. May you rest in peace.”
“Lazy Corner has lost a true friend, humble man, exemplary father with a good heart, someone always ready to be there for others.”
Sliema Wanderers also issued their condolences, calling Clifford “one of our brothers”,
“Rest in peace, friend.”
