Young Mater Dei Security Guard Arrested For Affair With 13-Year-Old Girl And Threatening To Leak Her Photos
An 18-year-old hospital security guard from Għargħur was arrested and prosecuted on charges of having sexually abused a 13-year-old girl and of being in possessing compromising photos of her.
Inspector Roxanne Tabone testified this afternoon that the girl’s mother had reported the young man to the police after spotting conversations with him on her mobile phone. The girl then told police that she met the accused four times and that she had no idea what she was doing. She also said that he had threatened to share compromising photos he had taken of her unless she obeyed his instructions.
The accused pleaded not guilty and requested bail, with his lawyer arguing that his client had no idea how young the girl actually was.
However, Tabone countered that he knew perfectly well how young she was, that his workplace (Mater Dei) was only a few minutes away from her house and that he used to visit her during his breaks.
Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras denied him bail on the grounds that there was a high risk he could tamper with evidence and ordered that he be kept in custody at the YOURS facility for young offenders.
