Young PL MP: ‘We’re The Party With Economic Competence… And We Have Facts To Prove It’
As Labour marks a year since its last electoral victory, the party’s youngest MP has insisted PL is the only party that can be trusted to run the Maltese economy.
“We speak about the economy so often because it is the foundation on which we can implement our beliefs and the tool with which we can help people,” Cressida Galea told a press conference, which was also addressed by Housing Minister Roderick Galdes.
“We are the party with economic competence and we show this through facts.”
An economist by profession, Galea reeled off a range of figures from 2022- the Maltese economy grew by 6.9%, over 16,000 new jobs were created and a record €3.7 billion was invested by the private sector.
Meanwhile, household consumption increased by 10% – a figure Galea saw as a positive and didn’t attribute to significant inflation in food products. Indeed, she noted that Malta’s inflation rate is one of the lowest in the EU, largely a result of the government’s decision to cushion energy price increases.
Other figures she quoted are the number of unemployed people in Malta dipping below 1,000, and 230 people fewer people on social assistance when compared to 2021.
Do you trust the government with managing the economy?
