A Maltese youth who suffered a potentially lethal electric shock has thanked the public for their support as he recovers well and is back at home.

“Thank you to everyone who wished me a speedy recovery,” Bjorn Piscopo said in an update.

“Your prayers have been answered and by the grace of God today I’m back at home resting to continue recovering,” he continued.

“The support helped keep me going, and I appreciate it to the smallest comment, message or help you gave me.”

Social media had been flooded with well wishes and messages of support after Piscopo’s sudden hospitalisation on Sunday.

“Please pray for my cousin Bjorn Piscopo. Continue to fight, we hope you get well soon, very fast. May God be with you,” said one family member after news of his accident broke.

“What a shock this morning, please pray for our friend,” said another.

“I’ve got no words – stay strong Bjorn!”

Piscopo, 25, was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital after suffering an electric shock while doing maintenance work at a house in New Street, Paola, at around 1.30pm on Sunday.

A doctor who lives nearby to Piscopo was able to assist him and give him first aid until emergency medics arrived.
