A Żejtun pool player has just taken home first place following the World Championships 2022 held in Ireland.

“Scott Muscat is the new World Champion of the Under 25’s category. In a terrific exciting final in Killarney, Ireland, the Żejtun-born star edged English Luke Gilbert 8-7,” the Malta Pool Association said right after his victory.

“Both players showed class and emotion throughout the game. Muscat was very unlucky to pot the black ball twice, losing him two frames, but kept his nerves on and went on to win the decisive frame with a stunning clearance,” it continued.

Muscat had become the European Under 23s Champion back in 2018 – and now, he has added another impressive win to his belt.

“The Malta Pool Association congratulates Scott Muscat for his excellent achievement and for keeping up the good name of the association and Malta’s flag flying high.”

“Well done Scott. Keep it up!”
