‘Żmien Il-Biża’ Spiċċa’: Mark Anthony Sammut Calls Out Abela Over Civil Servant Warning

PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut has called out Prime Minister Robert Abela after he issued a warning to government workers who view their positions as a “cushy job”.
“The Prime Establishment blamed civil servants for losing 34,000 votes,” Sammut said.
“He didn’t blame the ridiculous things he said, the lies he said about Roberta Metsola, his pointless attacks against Bernard Grech, or his TV station’s hate campaign. He didn’t blame the way he and his people have pigged out so much. He didn’t blame the way he tied himself and his party to Joseph Muscat, who brought them down. No, he blamed civil servants.”
“I urge civil servants not to be afraid of his threats and to continue working properly and by the law, particularly now they know that their colleagues who always obeyed him ended up charged in court. The days of fear are over; we will overcome tyranny.”
In an interview on ONE after yesterday’s electoral shock, Abela said he has no remorse about his own personal commitment to the nation but questioned whether other government employees can say likewise.
“I’m not just talking about people who are in the top tier like me because I’m very satisfied with their work, commitment and dedication,” he said. “However, when you start going down the pyramid… people in government structures aren’t there to have a cushy job and I want to make this message clear. Those who want that kind of work must take a decision tomorrow before it is forced upon them.”
