Ranked: These Are Malta’s Most And Least Active MPs For Parliamentary Questions

As Malta’s legislature enters its second year, PN’s Jerome Caruana Cilia leads the charge as the MP who has asked the most parliamentary questions.

Data effective as of 9th January shows the Qormi MP has had a total of 967 PQs answered by ministers, just ahead of his colleagues Graziella Galea (952) and Ivan Bartolo (950).

Veteran PN MPs Chris Said (887) and Carm Mifsud Bonnici (886) make up the rest of the top five.

The data refers to PQs that have already been answered, and doesn’t include PQs that have been submitted but are scheduled in upcoming sittings. Nevertheless, it is extremely indicative of the parliamentary activity of MPs.

While Caruana Cilia , Galea and Bartolo have asked almost 1,000 PQs each, PL’s Edward Zammit Lewis and Malcolm Paul Agius Galea and PN’s Stephen Spiteri haven’t asked a single one.

Agius Galea, along with Omar Farrugia and Glenn Bedingfield have been included in this list because they were backbenchers prior to the recent Cabinet reshuffle.

PL MP Aaron Farrugia hasn’t been included because he was only recently demoted to the backbenches, while Opposition Leader Bernard Grech is also being left out.
