People Are Petitioning To Turn Manoel Island Into “Malta’s Central Park”
Following the publication of development plans for Manoel Island which were published yesterday, some people have taken simple complaints to the next level.
A petition directed at the Prime Minister of Malta was launched very quickly, to transform Manoel Island into our very own version Central Park.
“Let’s save this part of our own history and make it available for all common people,” said Adrian Farrugia, the person who started the petition. “Why not turn this into a sustainable recreation area, museums, parks, history? Let’s try and stop this development from happening.”
While this may seem like an extremely ambitious cause, the petition got more than 3,000 signatures in its first 24 hours, with more coming in at a surprisingly constant rate.
Beyond simply signing the petition, hundreds of people also left messages of why they feel strongly about this issue, echoing the opposition that the project has been receiving over the past couple of months.
