Ayoub Qamar, the Belgian man who was involved in yesterday’s car incident where a rental car fell two storeys in Floriana’s MCP Car Park, has reached out to Lovin Malta readers to clear up some reports and show his gratitude.

“Luckily, I left my wife and baby outside the car,” he started. “But it is dangerous that a parking area isn’t secured with a wall. The fact that there weren’t any deaths is very lucky.”

The Peugeot 2008 rental car smashed through one of the makeshift barriers at the parking area, which were composed of two planks of wood.

“I would like to thank all the people who helped me,” Ayoub said, claiming that many people rushed to his help all at the same time. “If I’ll keep something with me after all of this, it will be the image of those who came to our help and support. It’s all very moving.”

“Thanks to all the Maltese, you’re the best. Thanks as well for all your comments,” Ayoub concluded.
