‘Comino Masterplan’ Gets Heavy Backlash From Angry Maltese

Article Featured Image

Malta is being developed left, right and centre, with every day seeming to bear with it fresh news of new projects. Yet banker Antoine Attard appears to have crossed the line with an opinion piece in The Times of Malta, calling for a masterplan for Comino.

Attard writes that areas around the shore of the tiny island should be levelled with cement, that would in turn be covered with parquet or plastic tiles “to give it that little upmarket touch”.

He also calls for an adequate road network for pedestrians and bikers, more stairs, LED lighting across the pathways, more public conveniences and showers, and a more modern camping site.

Oh, and as a side note: “Perhaps some trees could be planted in some areas of Comino.”

However, Maltese people took to social media to fire a warning shot at the authorities that they will not stand for any such masterplan on the undeveloped island.
