‘Getting Cancelled Very Soon’: Maltese Actor Reacts To ‘Unexpected’ Genital-Flashing Controversy
A recent, critically acclaimed Maltese production went from controversy inside the theatre to online, with a Reddit thread going off after an actor flashed the audience.
The show, “Mid-Djarju Ta’ Student fi Skola tal-Knisja” (From The Diary Of A Church School Student), features Jamie Cardona playing himself and other characters in a “solo-play about his time as a teenager at a church school”. And while references of puberty and warnings of swearing and nudity are clearly present in the promotional material and even inside the theatre the production was put on, at least one attendee somehow managed to avoid it all.
“The show had some funny bits, but things took a shocking turn when the comedian flashed his penis,” the Redditor said. “It completely threw me off, and I felt harassed and uncomfortable. I didn’t expect that kind of behaviour at all. Are all stand-up shows like this? Was it even worth attending if that’s the level of “entertainment” involved?”
“As a male, I consider myself pretty masculine, and I’ve seen my fair share of random nudity in gym showers, but what happened tonight was completely unexpected,” the post finished.

In the past days, a number of comments have flooded the original post, with some agreeing with OP, but many others mocking him for his “fragile masculinity” or the wrongful labelling of the one-man play as a “stand-up comedy show”.
In response to the recent online controversy, Cardona was as cheeky as ever, posting on his stories this afternoon that he was “getting cancelled very soon” and telling his followers to “stay tuned”.
One thing’s for sure – the play has been going from strength to strength. In fact, while it was originally meant to run from 26th April to 12th May, Cardona’s play now also has seven other dates in June, and even five more dates in October.
