“My Chandelier Was Trembling!” Maltese People Shook After Last Night’s Tremors
Last night was utter chaos; the ground shook, walls trembled and everyone who was inside, remained inside. A tremor hit the Maltese shores… for an entire two seconds.
And we’re all freaking out. On social media people reported feeling the tremor in Tal-Ibraġġ, Ħal-Safi, and even Floriana. They described their beds, lights and walls shaking, their animals whimpering, with one guy saying that he thought the sound was coming from his headphones.
There were those who couldn’t go back to sleep because of the scare, while other claimed that they didn’t feel it at all.
While some others used this opportunity to practice their ‘dad’ jokes.
At 12.22am a tremor was felt in Malta following a magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit the Ionian Sea, with its epicentre on Greek island, Zakynthos. Half an hour later another earthquake hit the Greek islands. Both times, the tremors were felt in Southern Italy, Malta and stretched on even further to Libya.
