With Birdlife Malta now reporting that the number of illegally killed protected birds has reached a shocking 11, it’s high time the authorities stepped up to the plate and closed the season. One of the main reasons the spring hunting season is so damaging is the fact that these birds are on their way to mainland Europe to breed.

Despite this, many will argue that this is a part of our culture, or that not all hunters are bad, but here are 11 reasons the season needs to close.
