‘This Is Why’: EuroPride Exhibition Poster Vandalised In Castille Square Ahead Of Official Opening Ceremony
@europride2023 hasn’t even officially kicked off yet, but three days ahead of the official opening ceremony, a poster advertising one of the events has been vandalised… in broad daylight in Castille Square, no less.
A photo currently circulating social media shows the poster – for Heritage Malta’s [BE]LOVED exhibition at Valletta’s Main Guard – vandalised by black sprayed on Xs. Malta’s queer community (and its allies) has already reacted strongly to it, saying this is exactly why we still need Pride in 2023.

“Let this serve as a reminder to everyone in the community and allies that this is just the beginning and we will be seeing loads of this crap and hate especially online (even from people you actually care about) so please don’t let this distress you TO SHOW YOUR TRUE COLOURS,” Glenn Zammit Freeman said of the incident.
“Shocked and appalled by this severely homophobic attack on EuroPride 2023,” activist Pia Micallef said meanwhile. “Right in front of Castille Square. There are no words to describe the disgust I feel right now.”
