‘Traitors’, Alternatives And Saddened Fans: Malta Reacts To Benna’s Sudden Milk Price Hike

Yesterday, Benna announced it would be increasing the prices of milk in an effort to sustain the livelihood of local dairy farmers. The price change sparked some interesting comments on social media and, as always, people have chimed in to give their two cents on the situation.

From the utterly unphased to the tough truths, here’s how Malta reacted to the price increase.

With so many alternatives to cow’s milk, many claimed that they wouldn’t be affected by this change

Others suggested buying foreign milk, either because Maltese milk “tastes like water…”

… or because it’s cheaper than local milk

There was some interesting speculation as to why the price of milk increased

… and some comments suggested that it’s more than just the price of milk on the horizon.

A few people acknowledged that our local dairy industry just can’t compete with foreign businesses… even if they preferred Maltese milk anyway
