Here’s The Full Setlist For ‘Nas Daily In Malta: The Musical’
As the dust settles on international viral vlogger Nas Daily’s whirlwind trip to Malta, the shares across the island have started to drop, as have the ‘I love him’ vs ‘I hate him’ office debates.
But just when you thought he was gone forever – he’s back… ish.
Bet you thought that was the last you’d seen of me
To fill the conversational void left across the island, we’ve compiled a collection of songs that could be strung together to perfectly summarise his trip to Malta.
1. Popular – Wicked
The opening number, Nas’ first steps on the island embody Glinda’s every word. Crowds flocked to him without knowing who he was or what he was here to do. They only knew one thing… he was popular!
Standout lyrics:
When I see depressing creatures, with unprepossessing features
I remind them on their own behalf to think of celebrated heads of states…
… did they have brains or knowledge?
Don’t make me laugh! They were popular
2. Zero To Hero – Hercules
He may have started out with 5.5 million fans across the globe, but his time in Malta saw him quickly become everyone’s personal hero. Sharing his videos, saying his quotes and begging to be in his clips, Nas was everywhere.
Standout lyrics:
And they slapped his face on every vase
From appearance fees and royalties
Our [Nas] had cash to burn
Now Nouveau Riche and famous…
3. Not One Of Us – Lion King 2
Just as the nation rallied behind him, out of the blue, Nas releases a video on immigration, and it was in favour of immigrants. So many local supporters who loved him for loving us suddenly announced that they wanted nothing to do with him. Some pretend they didn’t like him from the start.
Standout lyrics:
Disgrace (For shame!)
He asked for trouble the moment he came
Deception (An outrage!)
4. I Don’t Know How To Love [Malta] – Jesus Christ Superstar
After a lovely trip to Gozo the rage around the immigrants began to settle, but the longer he spent in Malta, and the more ‘Maltese’ he became, the closer he got to the P word. Politics.
Suddenly it all got a bit confusing as people put Nas in the centre of political conspiracy theories for days. He now battles the internal dispute: “should I reveal everything and tell them all they need to know, but cut ties with supporters and shoot myself in the foot or should I just push through the positivity?”
Standout lyrics:
Should I bring him down?
Should I scream and shout?
Should I speak of love
Let my feelings out?
5. I Can’t Do It Alone – Chicago
Now fully assimilated into Maltese culture (political scandals included) Nas turns to the public to make his dream come true. He wants Oh My Malta to be a thing, but he needs 1% of the population to turn up to the massive event he’s been planning. He knows he’s got the chops, but he just can’t do it alone.
Standout lyrics:
Why don’t I just show you some of the act, huh? Watch this
… Now you have to
Imagine this with [4,100] people
It’s swell with [4,100] people
6. Don’t Cry For Me [Malta] – Evita
A polarising figure who shot to near-sainthood in the eyes of some, and a major inconvenience to the rest. On his way out people weren’t even sure if he’d left already, but either way it must have been touching for him to leave the place that had fallen in (and out and then back in and then back out) of love with him.
Standout lyrics:
And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
Bonus: Oh My Malta – La Barrokka
The reprise. The standing ovation. The encore. All these will be carried out to the glorious theme song.
Standout lyrics:
Ooo-o-eh-oh
Ooo-o-eh-oh
