Watch: Planters Repeatedly Stolen From San Ġwann Restaurant Captured On CCTV
Local restaurant Govinda had its planters stolen on two separate occasions, the most recent time being just last week.
“Four guys planned an organised theft of two planters, and they came back twice for them,” the frustrated owner told Lovin Malta.
The beautiful facade of this restaurant caught the eye of some crime-inclined bystanders who decided to steal the planters that gave the San Ġwann establishment a warm and welcoming ambience.
Just last year, on a Sunday at 4.44am, a woman stole a hanging planter, however, the owners of the restaurant decided not to share this at the time.
She arrived with a car in the early hours of the morning, seemingly already knowing about the pots because “she quickly managed to take them off”.
Footage shows the woman running to the front of the restaurant with a hood over her head and stealing the planter hanging from the wall before sprinting away.
However, when four days ago the crime was repeated, the owner decided she’d had enough, and reached out to Lovin Malta to see if the public could identify these men.
The four men “clearly and amusingly” planned and organised the theft of two planters.
CCTV footage shows the men arriving at around 8.10pm on 7th January dressed in black clothing holding large yellow bags.
Two men can be seen hovering over the planters before one guy quickly slips one into a bag. They then walked away and returned around a minute later with the intent to steal another.
One of the men, with blonde hair, sunglasses, and a beard, can be seen cautiously looking out for witnesses, seemingly ensuring that no bystanders catch him. Meanwhile, he was accompanied by two of the other men, one of whom was casually eating out of a packet.
He placed his yellow bag on the floor and placed the planter in it before all three quickly walked away.
The owner admitted that she did not report the theft to the police due to an alleged previous negative experience.
Did you recognise any of these thieves?
