Uejja, Le Bistro? Mela, We Tried It!

Dairy-free desserts and a kid friendly atmosphere

Le Bistro

"Uwejja? Mela!"

Malta's radio ad of the moment (you either love it or hate it, but you sure as hell heard it) is what got me to Le Bistro at the Radisson Blu one very windy Friday lunch time.

This restaurant is in no way new to the dining scene but got a facelift this year as well as an updated menu and a funny marketing campaign. So I was curious to see what was on offer.

The look of the place has definitely improved and while the fitted carpet is a bit dated, the place is smart and bright with quotes and food art painted onto the wall.

The menu is quite vast and offers a good selection of starters, salads, pastas and grills and there is a sense of freshness throughout with Mediterranean flavours and seasonal ingredients in play. I liked the fact that several dishes on offer are gluten free or vegetarian for people with dietary requirements. They also have dairy-free dessert options which can be hard to find elsewhere.

The daily specials were explained by our waiter who was politely formal yet also friendly and efficient.

For the children we were given a kids menu which includes a main course, dessert and drink of your choice for €8.50 which is good value and portions are generous.

I had a great burger, oozy cheese, a side of sweet onion chutney, crispy fries and a little bucket of fresh, crunchy gherkins perfectly complemented the grease fest and also counted as one of my five a day.

I would have been happy to end my meal there but dug deep and found it in me to share a dessert. There are quite a few items on offer which are presented on a tray and explained thoroughly. The most decadent one is the tartufo which is made of dark chocolate mousse, topped with white chocolate mousse and covered in fondant so we had to have that and it was worth every calorie.

Le Bistro is open daily from noon till 22:30, is wheelchair accessible and ticks all the right boxes for a meal which needs to cater to different individual needs easily and without hassle.
